Below is a list of Bed & Breakfast accommodation within easy walking distance of the workshop venue, The Columbia Hotel. Recommended is the Lancaster Hall Hotel for the Paddington area, which has inexpensive but good sized rooms in their hostel section (with shared facilities). The Hyde Park Radnor and Linden House are inexpensive alternatives for en suite rooms. Further from Paddington can be found some other less expensive alternatives. The best one in this area is the Radnor Hotel, with Craven Gardens Hotel second.
All prices in the 'Accommodations Close to Paddington' section, include VAT and English breakfast, except for the Hyde Hotel London, where breakfast is not included. In the 'Less Expensive Accommodations' section, only a continental breakfast is served. The Mitre House hotel also includes parking.

This hotel is a modern clean building. The rooms are a bit sterile, but there is no ancient grunge and the rooms are a comfortable size. Singles are the same size as doubles.
If you're willing to share bathroom facilities and not have TV or phone in the room, you can get a very nice room for £28. A double is £40, a triple is £51, a quad is £68. This is their ‘hostel’ section. If you call and they say they are booked for this section, try again in a few days or a week. They hold blocks of rooms in case a youth group should need them, and then as the time approaches, they release these rooms to the general public.
A private room with TV and phone, private toilet/shower facilities is about £59, £74 for a double, depending on time of year. These rooms also have a private safe.

They have rooms both en suite and shared facilities, all at hostel-like prices. The rooms are not as nice as the Lancaster’s hostel section, but they are nice enough and a decent size (unless you have a lot of people staying in a room. Some rooms have a bunk bed (with 2 beds) and another bed, usually a double; and some rooms have a double and single. These serve as singles or doubles or triples. They also have some rooms for 4 people. There are no phones in any of the rooms. The showers, shared or en suite, do not get very hot. Students who have stayed there tell me that the owners are very nice and helpful. The hotel is on Sussex Gardens, which is a busy street, but it’s set back from the street and the balconies block some of the sound, and there are no buses, which are noisier than cars. You can also ask for a room in the back.

They also have triples & quads. Breakfast is not included but can be bought there. All rooms have direct dial phones, TV and private bathroom. Rooms are small. The hotel was refurbished in 2000.

All the rooms have been refurbished, but you want a room in the back as the front is on a noisy street. They have car parking for £10 per night and wireless for about £10 for 24hrs. Nearest underground is Queensway on the Central Line, just a few minutes away. It is also about 5-10min walk from Bayswater on Circle and District Lines - one stop from Paddington - and a 10min walk from Lancaster Gate station on the Central Line. Paddington is about a 20min walk.
